The top two photos were displayed in the 1998 Buffalo Past & Present [http://www.buffalophotos.com/] photo show. The top photo earned an honorable mention — effectively fourth place. Each of these photographs was shot on 4x5 inch film by Paris Roselli, drum-scanned to PhotoCD, and then heavily manipulated in Adobe Photoshop with some stock photography from PhotoDisc. Output was in the form of 50+ megabyte .tif files that were then imaged back to 4x5 inch negatives. The final product consisted of five 3- foot- wide prints, matted, framed, and sent to somewhere in Las Vegas. Clicking an image will return a 600-pixel-wide lossy .jpg image.
Honorable Mention, Buffalo Past & Present Photo Show. You can hardly see the road horse in front of the Buick Electra. There is also a banana warning sign in the fruit. The larger view is 37.3k. Want to see a before and after?
The building had signs removed from the front, the trees are blurred toward the front doors, and notice the meters and mailbox as they bend to the doors. The larger view is 34.4k. Want to see a before and after?
Cars were removed from the lot, the sky was moved to below the building, and the 'space ships' inserted. Notice the eyes in the sky. The larger view is 34.6k. Want to see a before and after?
Half the building was reconstructed after removing all the cars from the lot. The colors were drastically improved, especially in the water and sky. The larger view is 42.3k. Want to see a before and after?
Second design, as requested by the client. Most of the bottom of the building is rebuilt where fruit was supposed to cover it. The larger view is 34.2k. Want to see a before and after?
