Malle and Antwerpen, Belgium
Sunday, August 12, 2001; posted by Paris

Last weekend we visited Diego, Heike and Mario in Malle, Belgium. No real goal for the day other than to visit and have a relaxing stroll around Antwerp (Europe's second largest port). The weather was good, and we had a nice lunch and dinner (tasty pasta and sauce cooked by cousin Mario). We finished a very nice day by listening to old television tunes and naming the show. Diego had recorded these for his own amusement.

Some of the old buildings along the market square in Antwerp.

The market and cathedral.

The Opera.

The Steen - a 9th century fortress built to protect the western frontier of the Holy Roman Empire. Now it houses the National Maritime Museum.

The Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal (Cathedral of Our Lady) and its massive 404 ft high north spire. Construction began in 1352 and continued until 1584.

DJ Coto spins his show tunes for our entertainment.
