Kokerei Zollverein Continued
Saturday, July 07, 2001; posted by Paris

In the middle of what were the coke ovens, a giant round Ferris-wheel-like device has been placed. In the middle of the rain storm we decided to take a ride. Not sure if we were supposed to pay first, but the rather wet, unhappy ride guy let us go on for two cycles. From the top of this wheel, we could see all of the surrounding area and the nearby mines.

On the wheel ride, after descending into a hole cut in the ovens.

Lisa and me on the ride.

A view of the coke operations from the wheel.

Sebastian and Lisa on the holiday ride with the beautiful industrial complex in the background.

Leaving the facility. You can see the wheel ride on top of the coke ovens.
