Reichstag, Berlin
Thursday, July 19, 2001; posted by Paris

Our next visit was to the Reichstag, or German Parliament building. This building sits along the former East-West border, and the Brandenburg Gate is just 100 yards to its south. We waited for about 40 minutes to gain access to the new glass dome on top of the Reichstag.

A view from the waiting line.

Also a colorful image.

A view from the ground up to the top of the dome.

This is a picture from inside the giant glass, steel and mirrored dome. Along the base, there are photos and documents explaining the history of the building. We walked up slanted walkways to the top and could see the city for miles.

A picture of the dome from the rooftop.

The sunlight and clouds were perfect, and we were able to get some very colorful images like this.

Lisa, Sebastian and me doing a self-portrait at the top of the dome. (st)

From the roof we could see the Brandenburg Gate and former East Berlin.
