Notre Dame - interior
Friday, April 14, 2000; posted by Paris
I was in a bit of a rush to catch a flight, so I could not spend the time necessary to hold still and properly (as much as the digital camera will allow) expose the interior. These are just a few of the shots that I took inside.
Most of the pews have been moved out of the way to allow wandering. There are areas for quiet prayer and meditation. In general, it is rather quiet, even with all of the tourists wandering around.
They were tuning the pipe organ while I visited.

Banks of candles are found everywhere inside. People light them and quietly pray.

Facing the front of the cathedral from the altar. Long view of the cathedral and its massive stained glass window.

Not exposed properly, but still conveys some of the grandeur of the stained glass.

A combination foto facing toward the altar. The pews have been moved to the side for the afternoon.
