Even More Famous Images From London
Wednesday, June 07, 2000; posted by Paris

More assorted images from our few days in London.

Big Ben in the sunshine. An impressive corner with Westminster Hall (the Houses of Parliament) to the right and Westminster Abbey behind me.

The London Eye. Very popular with lines longer than a Disneyland ride. Had to reserve a ticket a few days in advance. They were sold out for the entire weekend.

A view looking at the top of the Tower Bridge.

A view of the Tower Bridge as it is approached. Interesting to see the buildings at the foot of the bridge.

A formal image of the Tower Bridge. Many have confused this with London Bridge (the original is now in the desert in Nevada or Arizona) and the current London Bridge looks like the current Peace Bridge.

Here is a composite image of the Tower of London. The center of the complex was started in 1068 and was the residence of the monarchy for centuries. We did not have a chance to go inside. You see the walls and the empty moat around them. In its day it was rather impenetrable.

An image of Westminster Abbey. It was founded in 1065 and many Kings, Queens and people of stature are entombed here. We entered through the Great North Door (seen here in the foto) for a tour.

This is the front view of Westminster Abbey. We were not permitted to take fotos while inside. We heard the choir and organist practicing - it was amazing.
