Bi-Pedal Power
Sunday, April 02, 2000; posted by Paris

Here are the bikes Lisa and I will use to get around the countryside and neighborhood. The Netherlands have one of the highest bikes per capita rate in Europe.

The Dutch are known for their quality bike making.

These two Pointers are called Oma/Opa - or grandmother/grandfather - bikes. They are old-fashioned looking and generally the most popular.

It has been about 12 years since I have ridden a bike (or done anything extremely physical). This will be interesting.

The black bikes come with a bell, generator for head and tail lamps, insurance for theft/damage, a maintenance schedule, dual locking system and saddlebags.

Here is Lisa's bike.
