St. Nikolaikirche - Hamburg, Germany
Monday, March 27, 2000; posted by Paris

This was a very interesting site. The steeple and rear wall are the only things remaining of this massive cathedral in Hamburg, Germany. It was destroyed in WWII by Allied bombs. You can see the poster that shows what it looked like (and the surrounding ruins) in 1945.

The steeple rises forever. A very impressive and sad sight.

This is a composite foto (made of 5 images) of the steeple. Notice the cavity where the stained glass window used to be.

The rear wall of the church.

The other half of the rear wall.

The poster that shows the site in 1945.
